Breaking Up with Habits That Are Not Our Friends

Sometimes we fall into routines that aren’t truly in our best interest.
It might start with a gooey latte, a cigarette to calm the nerves, or staying in bed to read instead of going for a morning walk. These small choices can quietly turn into life habits.

Ordering French fries instead of a salad.
Reaching for your phone to scroll, without intention.
Opening the fridge when it isn’t mealtime.
Pouring that second (or third) glass of wine or cup of coffee.
Not doing what we said we would.

These are often unconscious cries for help—a search for something to make us feel better.

Maybe it’s time to review the structures of your life and invite in some positive change.

The morning is an especially potent time to anchor new, healthier habits.
I’ve mentioned this before, but let this be your reminder to deepen your spiritual practice—ideally first thing in the day.

Whether or not you meditate (and I hope you will), choose a contemplative practice that’s intentional.

Julia Cameron, author of The Artist’s Way, recommends Morning Pages—writing three longhand pages of uninterrupted thought. It’s a powerful tool for self-discovery.
Or, you can journal with specific prompts to uncover insight:

  • What am I most grateful for today?
  • What is one thing I will do today that I know is important for me?
  • What have I been avoiding? Why?
  • How will I show love to myself today?

Checking in with your body—especially when facing health challenges—can be a meditation in itself.

Practicing emotional detachment (without bypassing) is a lifelong exercise in self-awareness. Some days it’s easy; other days, not so much. Still, it strengthens your mind.

Ask yourself: Is this something I truly believe—or something I was taught?
Let curiosity lead before letting feelings hijack your thoughts.

With Lion’s Gate (8/8) and the Full Moon in Aquarius (8/9) approaching, this is an ideal moment to release unfinished business and step into a new, more empowered life plan.

Powerful women acting decisively in these critical times is a continuing theme.

That’s you, Goddess.
