Happy April Fool’s or All Fools’ day!
Today is known for displaying clever practical jokes of all kinds, so if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
In the Tarot, the Fool, is considered to be number 22 in the major arcana and also the number 0. It is both first and last because it is outside of the sequence, full of possibilities and potential. It represents the principles of courage and birth or new beginnings.
The ability to give birth to new ideas forms from a place of courage.
There are many Goddesses associated with this day, such as Venus, Fortuna, Prosperina and others. It’s unknown whether Prosperina and Persephone were once the same Goddesses, but similar to Aphrodite and Venus, their names are often used interchangeably.
Many rites, feasts, and festivals were held in honor of them at this time.
These celebrations promoted fertility, creativity, prosperity, and protection, all of which go hand in hand with celebrating this day with courage and relinquishing fear.
The Chinese symbol of fear is the Tiger, and most of us would run from such a beast. However, the Fool would grab it by the tail.
Consider this metaphorically.
Fear is a legitimate feeling and a survival instinct. However, tigers aren’t commonly encountered these days, so we need to discern if our fear is based on an old, ingrained response or if genuine danger is present.
I bring this up because excessive fear-mongering is prevalent these days and it has been disruptive to our health and nervous systems.
We are in a new era of technology-driven thought unlike anything we have ever seen before.
The age of Aquarius, which we have all heard about, is finally upon us.
The media, global powers through governments, and the rapid spread of misinformation are causing us to be fearful.
This is a “virtual” tiger chasing us.
If we are not careful about how we consume information through technology it will cause harm.
This is the tiger we must grab by the tail.
I am not suggesting that we stick our heads in the sand. We should be informed citizens and engage where it matters, but discernment is essential.
To do this, we must stay grounded and spend time with real people. We need to focus on our genuine well-being and those near us.
Find blogs and resources other than social media that you trust and limit your time spent on these platforms.
Spend more time outside in the natural world.
Prepare healthy food and invite people over to share it. Potlucks are a great idea.
Spend time searching for good news and also creating it.
Laugh, play more, and by all means be foolish.
Embrace your Fool Goddess!
