Here in the U.S. we have been trying to find our “sea legs” again with such an abrupt change in our government’s leadership. Uncertainty is rarely welcome and yet it is always assured.
We yearn for certainty to feel safe and yet tend to resist change ferociously despite constant change.
As one of our basic human needs, that of certainty, and the illusion of control, which is the ego’s way of trying to keep us safe, there is a direct conflict brewing that causes us to fear and clouds our judgment and understanding.
So much of the fear around us now is driven by the media and this is something we can indeed and need to control.
Technology is a double-edged sword though. It is part of the future but we are not able to fully comprehend how to use it without being used by it. At least not yet.
Never fear because we are part of the world, the same universe, with a mission to learn and grow. And grow we must.
To do this we must stay healthy and grounded. Loving ourselves deeply and endeavoring to share only our best.
What we choose to focus on has more importance than ever before.
Here we are entering a New Year with plenty of unknown surrounding us, and it’s in this very unknown where magic happens.
Remember this.
So what do you intend to develop/ learn/ grow with-in yourself?
Go into the sweet territory of silence and listen.
Angerona, the Roman Goddess of silence and the keeper of secrets is often depicted with a bandaged mouth and one finger to her lips, symbolizing her role in quieting fear and sorrow. She helps drive these emotions away and heals the pains of the heart.
You may wish to call on her.
Take a nature walk. Something as simple as feeling the wind outside, watching the leaves blow or the birds gather, and any other natural scene is calming to our nervous system. If it’s too cold to go outside then sit by a window and observe or watch a crackling fire in silence.
Still the noise that the outside world is serving up. It will be there later.
But who will you be as the listener?
Wishing you a beautiful, bright, and gorgeously healthy New Year.
